Home-made Christmas Terrariums

A tiny world just for you

Happy 2014 everyone. We’re back in action again, tanned, round but feeling great. We’ve got lots of photography planned for this year, but first a belated post…

Terrarium

Terrarium’s have been hot all over pinterest and florists in 2013, and I’ve been itching to make one for ages. We finally got all the ingredients together, and decided to make some for our nieces for Christmas.

We mostly followed this post at Chickpea. If you want to make your own, you’ll need:

    • Jar (I found ours at Kmart)
    • Rocks and pebbles (Hardware and garden centres)
    • Charcoal (Hardware stores)
    • Potting mix
    • Moss (flower warehouses or online)
    • Small succulents
    • Figurines and glue (we purchased online from train hobby retailers)
    • Interesting large rocks and bits of wood

We cut and painted a road for cyclist doing time trials. In another some tourists admire a large prehistoric plant while their teenager sneaks off to graffiti a rock. My favourite was a daydreamer who climbs a tree in a mossy wilderness. While lastly two sightseers look over a ravine.
